In October, I had the privilege of meeting with the Host Committee of the 2023 Annual Meeting and Conference (AMC) in Milwaukee. We toured the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel and discussed plans for the gathering. The theme of the meeting, “The Daring Endeavor of Being Church” will be prominent in the speakers and presentations throughout the AMC.
I was excited to see the renovated rooms where we will stay and meet, and some of the restaurants and entertainment spots within walking distance of the hotel.
I hope that you will mark your calendars now. Bring your stories of the daring endeavors of being church and come prepared to hear the hopeful stories of others. Our Wisconsin friends are enthusiastic about hosting our Association and all of us are looking forward to what we will hear and see in Milwaukee and virtually next June 24th through 27th.
NACCC Member Forum
Jodee Lord, Vice-Moderator, Chair, Board of Directors
The NACCC is working hard to keep connected to our congregations. Here are some of the ways we get news out to our churches.
A few months ago, we launched a dedicated discussion forum exclusively for individuals of NACCC member churches. What a nice way to interact with members of your sister churches. It’s a place to ask questions, share ideas, make suggestions, or simply chat with other Congregationalists.
It’s simple! Go to the NACCC Member Forum and then follow the directions to register. If you have any questions, please contact the NACCC Office and someone will gladly help you.
Congregational Foundation Board Meets
Varn Philbrook, Congregational Foundation Board of Governors
Encouraging news for the Ministry Councils and members churches of the NACCC! Your Congregational Foundation Board of Governors met last week at the NACCC office in Oak Creek, WI and laid the groundwork for funding its share of the upcoming 2023 budgeting cycle. We discussed and approved maintaining the annual 4% drawdown rate based upon recommendations from the Congregational Investment Trust Oversight Committee and its advisors, Vanguard Institutional Services.
Folks, in these financially unsettled times, NACCC leadership feels that maintaining the visioning and growth trajectory of our Ministry Councils is a most important endeavor. Our faith in their thoughtful assessments and dedication to your growth initiatives is paramount to the building up of our NACCC membership. Thank you for your support of our Congregational way.
Listening Tour Update
October brought eleven stops on the Listening Tour in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan. Some activities were unique: preparing hundreds of pies, riding a combine, seeing a famous wedding venue, dancing to live music in a parking lot. There also were common themes: special music, members who drive a distance to their churches, ecumenical Bible studies, and delicious food!
